Woman Inside B-17G Flying Fortress Chin Turret
Latest addition to the famed Boeing Fortress family is the B-17G, one of which is seen here nearing completion in the final assembly area of the Boeing Aircraft Company, Seattle, WA. Distinguishing characteristics of the B-17G is the twin-gun "chin-turret" located beneath the plastic nose. Mounting two 50 caliber machine guns with a firing range of about 1,000 yards, the new turret is designed to parry frontal attacks by enemy fighter planes.
