The Model 40 used steel tubing for the nose and curved wood-veneer laminate for the middle of the fuselage. The wings were wood and fabric. The plane was hampered by the antiquated water-cooled Liberty engine, required by the government in order to use up large stocks of surplus war equipment.BI231015 (hs3328)Maximum size:2406px × 2996px (~20 MB)8.0in × 9.9in (300dpi)License type:Rights ManagedKeywords:1920s-achievement-adults-airplanes-biplanes-business executives-businesspeople-candids-close-ups-congratulations-day-deplaning-exteriors-friends-full body views-greetings-ground shots-handshakes-hats-head on views-historic production status-landing gears-left side views-mail planes-main wheels-male-Model 40-other livery-photos-pilots-propeller planes-publicity events-several/groups-smiling-standing-suits-text-unpaved ground-vintage / retro-wheelsRelated Photo/Videos:View AllRelated Virtual folders:Model 40 (Passenger)
