Originally built in 1929, this Boeing Model 100, a civil counterpart to the P-12 and U.S. Navy F4B-1 fighter, was restored in the 1970s and flew again above the Seattle area skies after being grounded since 1940. The lettering and insignia applied to the restored aircraft duplicated those on an actual P-12 of the 95th Pursuit Squadron. In its early days, this airplane, serial number 1143, registration number 872H, was owned by Pratt & Whitney and served as a flying engine test bed.
