Photo from "Trailblazers: The Women of The Boeing Company"
Rosie Farrar was the company's first female employee. She was hired by Bill Boeing himself in 1916 shortly before the company was incorporated. He needed an"expert in hand stitching" to complete the linen wings of his first airplane, the B&W - and that expert turned out to be Farrar, a young Seattle seamstress who played an important role in Boeing history by leading the way for other women to follow.
