Taken from a Boeing B-29 Superfortress flying at 40,000 feet, two of Washington State's major mountain peaks look like rather small ice cream dishes. In foreground is Mt. St. Helens, (9,671 foot elevation); while almost 40 miles away is 12,307 foot Mt. Adams. Both peaks are glacier-covered the year round. Thousands of square miles of green forest lands extend on all sides of these two peaks. The Columbia River Basin country is to the right, while Canada is beyond the haze in top of picture.
