The Model 40 used steel tubing for the nose and curved wood-veneer laminate for the middle of the fuselage. The wings were wood and fabric. The plane was hampered by the antiquated water-cooled Liberty engine, required by the government in order to use up large stocks of surplus war equipment.BI231023 (hs5220)Maximum size:2402px × 1838px (~12 MB)8.0in × 6.1in (300dpi)License type:Rights ManagedKeywords:1920s-adults-airplanes-biplanes-buildings-candids-copy space-day-exteriors-full body views-ground crews-ground shots-historic production status-mail planes-maintenance-male-Model 40Y-other livery-photos-propeller planes-refueling-right side views-several/groups-snow-sunshine-tarmac-text-vintage / retro-Zerolene Aircraft OilsRelated Photo/Videos:View AllRelated Virtual folders:Model 40 (Passenger)Model 40 (Mailplane)
