He worked for Boeing from 1940 to 1972. Much of Marvin's work during WW II explored the aeronautical, physiological and psychological effects of high altitude flight in the B-17 Flying Fortress. During the Cold War, Marvin helped pioneer the development of air-to-air refueling technology using a rigid boom on B-29s and B-50s. For this work, he was honored with the Pathfinder Award in 1999 from the Museum of Flight in Seattle.
