The last 757-300 rolled out of the Renton, Wash., factory on March 23, 2004. Following first flight, the airplane was painted and delivered to Continental Airlines. The decision to phase out the jet was announced in 2003 when it became clear that the capabilities of the 737 and 787 would fulfill the market requirement for an airplane with the size and range of the 757. The longest single-aisle twinjet ever produced, the 757-300 is 178 feet, 7 inches in length, 15 percent longer than the 757-200. Seven customers around the world ordered 55 757-300s since its launch in 1996. The very last 757, a 757-200, was built in October 2004 when Boeing completed production of this popular jetliner.
