LHX Flight Control Computer Core Elements Breadboard
In the 1980s, Boeing Vertol teamed with Sikorsky to develop a new digital flight control computer that was to be used on a new light family of rotorcraft being developed to replace the aging Vietnam-era fleet. The new system further developed "fly by light" systems that utilized laser light for signal transmission. "Fly by light" had the benefit of being immune to electromagnetic radiation.
