More than 732 KC-135s were built, and most, with modifications, remain in service into the 21st century. The KC-135 shared the Dash-80 prototype with the Boeing 707 commercial transport, but was launched first in 1956. The KC-135's aerial refueling equipment in the lower deck leave the upper deck clear for 25 tons of cargo or 80 troops. KC-135s supplied warplanes with fuel during the Persian Gulf conflict, Operation Enduring Freedom over Afghanistan, and for homeland defense.BI22024 (597-57)Maximum size:6000px × 4800px (~82 MB)20.0in × 16.0in (300dpi)License type:Rights ManagedKeywords:1950s-707 family-air to air-airplanes-copy space-day-exteriors-flying-flying in formation-fuel systems-full body views-gray color-gray skies-ground to air-jets-KC-135 Stratotanker-maintenance-military-military livery-monochromatic-monoplanes-muted colors-out of production-photos-propulsion systems-refueling-right rear views-Tankers-viewed from below-vignettingRelated Photo/Videos:View All
