The first Boeing P-8I maritime patrol aircraft touches down at India's southeast navy base, India Naval Station Rajali. A combined Boeing and Indian Navy crew piloted the plane from Boeing Field in Seattle. Based on the Boeing Next-Generation 737-800, the P-8I is the Indian Navy's variant of the P-8A Poseidon that Boeing developed for the U.S. Navy. The P-8I incorporates India-unique design features and also India-built subsystems, which are tailored to the country’s maritime patrol requirements.
