First Boeing 757-300 Wing Spar Assembled
September 19, 1997 - Roger Trudeau, left and Nate Hale, mechanics at the Boeing Wing Responsibility Center in Renton, WA, lock the clamps that hold the first Boeing 757-300 front, left wing spar in place in the state-of-the-art Automated Spar Assembly tool (ASAT). The wing spar - 63 feet in length - serves as an internal support structure and is the first major part of the 757-300 to be assembled. The first delivery of the 757-300 twinjet, a derivative of the Boeing 757-200, is scheduled for 1999.
