First 777-200 in Flight

On Nov. 15, 1996, the Boeing 777 jetliner received its second major aviation award for that year. The National Air & Space Museum Smithsonian Institution bestowed the 777 development team with its most prized award, the 1996 Trophy for Current Achievement. During the ceremony, the Boeing 777 team was recognized for "reshaping the way the industry builds airplanes by developing 'working together' relationships with the airlines, partners, suppliers, and all who designed and built the 777 to create the most advanced and service-ready twinjet in commercial aviation history."
