EC-135N Apollo Range Instrumented Aircraft (A/RIA) Takes Off from Tulsa Airport
In 1966 Douglas Tulsa was contracted to modify eight Boeing C-135 cargo planes into EC-135N aircraft. They were designated ARIA, or Apollo Range Instrumented Aircraft, and were used to maintain constant contact with the Apollo missions.
