DC-8 Super 63 in Flight
The DC-8, powered by four jet turbine engines and capable of speeds of more than 600 mph, was produced in eight basic models, although production was eventually concentrated in the Super Sixty series. All of the design improvements of the DC-8-61 and the -62 were incorporated into he DC-8-63, shown here. The fuselage extension, aerodynamic improvements to nacelles, pylons and flaps, plus increased wing span and fuel capacity combined to provide outstanding payload range and capacity.
