Computational Fluid Dynamic Representation of the HSCT Flow During Cruise

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used extensively in the high-speed aerodynamic design of the HSCT. The CFD method gave detailed information about the airflow away from the airplane as well as on its surface. These analyses were used to investigate the formation and interactions of shock waves produced by the wing, body and nacelles, and their effects on performance.
