Commercial Crew Capsule - CST-100
On February 2, 2010 Boeing received an $18 Million award from NASA to further develop concepts for a commercial crew capsule. The capsule will carry a mixture of crew and cargo and will be launched on a commercial launch vehicle. NASA selected Boeing under an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act award to study crew capsule design. Boeing refers to the project as CST-100, or Crew Space Transport, with the 100 referring tothe 100 kilometers from the ground to low earth orbit.
