CH-47F Chinook on Flight Ramp with New Work Stands
In December 2008, Boeing teams successfully implemented a new approach to improve fall protection on Boeing's Philadelphia Flight Ramp during ground operations. Their efforts included not only the safety of Flight Test employees who need to access the top of aircraft during flight test ground operations but also helped prevent damage that can occur to an aircraft during Flight operations on the Flight Ramp. The solution was a set of light weight, movable work platforms made of Bosch extruded aluminum, with durable wheels for optimum mobility. These work platforms can also be stored on the flight ramp for easy access and ease of set up. Once the platform solution was reviewed by site management, funding was approved for the design and fabrication. The last of the work platforms arrived at the site in November 2008 providing Flight Ramp employees with safer fall protection as well as supporting the site's Lean program.
