Boeing SUGAR Freeze Concept
The revolutionary high wing, strut brace Boeing SUGAR Freeze is projected to be 64% more efficient than current 737-800 passenger aircraft. Cryogenically stored liquefied natural gas (hence "Freeze") is burned in a pair of unducted fan engines while also powering a solid-oxide fuel cell as an aft-thruster. LNG is projected to remain abundant in the 2045 time frame and is more environmentally friendly, making it an ideal substitute to current aviation fuel.
