Boeing Rolls Out 500th Next-Generation 737 Jetliner

On February 11, 1999 Boeing prepared the 500th Next-Generation 737 jetliner for rollout from the final assembly plant in Renton, Wash. - just two years after the Next-Generation 737 entered service. No other jetliner in history reached the 500 mark in so short a time. The airplane, a 737-700, was schedlued to be delivered to Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) in March 2000. In 2002 the 737 manufacturing process converted to a moving line system, replacing the station to station method of assembly pictured here.
