B-17 Flying Fortress Rear Compartment

Boeing workers designed and launched the B-17 Flying Fortress for the U.S. Army in just 12 months. In World War II the B-17 bomber was known for bringing its crew home safely even when it was damaged. Boeing delivered more than 12,000 B-17s during the war. That number includes 3,000 built by Douglas.
