The Boeing 777-300 touches down at Seattle's Boeing Field after a successful maiden flight. Touchdown occurred at 2:33 p.m. PDT for a total flight of 4 hours, 6 minutes. Ron Ostrowski, vice president and general manager of the 777 program, greeted crew members Frank Santoni and John Cashman after a flawless flight on an equally flawless autumn day. Flight-test for the Rolls-Royce Trent 892-powered 777-300 is expected to last until May, when the world's longest commercial jetliner is certified to begin passenger service. Certification for 777-300s powered by the Pratt & Whitney PW4090 and PW 4098 engines is expected in June and September 1998 respectively.
