Boeing Airplane Services employees in the Wichita Modification Center remove a section of 757-200 fuselage that will be replaced with a cargo door in what is to be the first 757 passenger-to-freighter conversion ever undertaken. Boeing will provide 44 757 Special Freighters to launch customer DHL Worldwide Express. A 20-foot-by-22- foot cargo door surround structure replaces the removed fuselage section. The 757SF can carry 60,000 pounds (27,210 kg) of cargo more than 2,000 nautical miles (4,630 km) with a volume payload capacity of more than 8,000 cubic feet (226.5 cubic meters).
