747-100 - 2,000th 7-Series
On May 15, 1998, Boeing celebrated the 2,000th 7-series widebody to be built. Boeing builds all three 7-series widebodies the 747, 767 and 777 at its factory in Everett, Wash. The milestone jet a 747-400 was delivered to British Airways. The world's first commercial widebody was the Boeing 747-100, shown here at the rollout ceremony on Sept. 30, 1968. Boeing donated the first 747 to Seattle's Museum of Flight. On lease to Boeing, the airplane often is used as a flying test airplane for aeronautical developments. Nearly 120 customers worldwide have ordered more than 2,500 of the 7-series widebody jets, of which Boeing has delivered nearly 2,000.
