314 Clipper at Plant I
The beautiful Model 314 was designed to meet a specification issued by Pan American Airways in 1936 for a long-range, four-engined flying boat. The wing and horizontal tail surfaces of the XB-15, then under construction, were adapted almost intact to a newly designed flying-boat hull with accommodations for seventy -four passengers and a crew of six to ten.
